You will begin a session by discussing your healing focus, and then you will lie fully clothed on a massage table with soft music playing in the background. Healing energy is channeled and guided into specific areas of your body’s cellular memory by means of gentle touch or hands hovering over the body. At the end of the session, most people feel relaxed, recharged and refreshed.

Yoga Therapy

Yoga Therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of yoga.

This form of therapy uses yoga postures, breathing exercises, meditation, and guided imagery to improve mental and physical health. Using a holistic approach, this method encourages the integration of mind, body, and spirit.

During a Yoga therapy session, Theresa takes her time to assess each client: closely listening, questioning, and observing. As a therapist, she looks for ways to help clients reduce or manage symptoms and improve functioning, as well as guide their understanding of their attitudes in relation to their overall health.

After assessing a client, Theresa works with them to establish goals and then develops a practice intervention that will guide them back into harmonious balance and can include meditation as medicine, breathing techniques, yoga postures, sacred sound through mantra, sound therapy, energy therapy, guided imagery, as well as other healing techniques.

Theresa Banks is certified through the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). She draws from her knowledge of Hatha Yoga and Kundalini Medicine. As well as being a Yoga Therapist, Theresa is an experienced Energy Healer and Sound Healer, and can incorporate all of these modalities in serving a client’s healing. Sound Healing

Sound healing is an age old practice of using vibrational instruments (i.e. gongs, healing bowls, tuning forks, voice) on and around the body to create a deeply relaxed state where healing can occur on many different levels.

Sound helps to facilitate shifts in our brainwave state by using entrainment. Entrainment synchronizes our fluctuating brainwaves by providing a stable frequency which the brainwave can attune to. By using rhythm and frequency, we can entrain our brainwaves and it then becomes possible to down-shift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness), and even reach theta (meditative state) and delta (sleep; where internal healing can occur). Sound healing also has the capability to facilitate a deep connection with the Soul.

We are constantly searching for ways to fill the gap between the self and its truth. Often we fill the gap with drugs, sex, alcohol, social media, gossip, or food, only to find that our temporary relief triggers a greater need to connect. Using sound to release this tension of disconnect is non-addictive, highly effective and, when combined with a yoga and meditation practice, can cultivate a natural state of harmony.

During the sound healing session, you will begin with gentle breathwork and setting your intention. You will rest fully clothed on a massage table while the sound practitioner uses sound instruments to relax you and move stagnant energies within the body. The session may also include a component of vocal release through humming or vibrating mantra. Each session is about 1 hour which includes time to rest and recalibrate in this new released state.

Sound is an excellent therapy for all stress-related issues, depression, fatigue, feelings of separation or loneliness, and many other conditions caused by a lack of balance and harmony in the body or mind.

Gong vibrations can clear the mind, reduce stress and anxiety, organize emotional energies, revitalize the glandular, nervous and immune systems, open and align chakras, and clear the magnetic field. Gong carries you into a meditative state, and supports integrative healing of the whole self. The more gong sessions one attends, the better the results. Gong is excellent therapy for all stress-related issues, depression, fatigue, feelings of separation or loneliness, and many other conditions caused by a lack of balance and harmony in the body or mind.

Every Kundalini Yoga class includes a period of deep relaxation with the gong. It’s an evening of healing with gongs, bowls and bells and watch for special events featuring the gong.

Essential Oils

Yoga transforms our physical, emotional and spiritual lives, and, throughout history, essential oils have been used as well for such healing work.

Why do I choose to use doTERRA Oils?

There are three ways to effectively use doTERRA essential oils.

1. Aromatic Application
The field of aromatherapy is the common term for aromatic diffusion of essential oils to create a therapeutic impact.  Many research studies have directly tied the positive impact of essential oils on mood and emotion.  Oils can simply be dropped on the hands which are then rubbed together and cupped around the nose.  The oils can also be added to distilled water in a spray bottle and misted around the room or on a person.  Drops can also be placed in a diffuser to disperse a more lasting mist into the air.

2. Topical Application
We apply oils topically to have a therapeutic effect on a part or all of the body.  We often think of topical application for physical needs, but as we apply oils to our skin, we are also breathing in the aromatic benefits that bring balance to our being.

When applying essential oils topically, many people first dilute them using carrier oils such as fractionated coconut oil or a cold pressed oil such as sesame, olive, almond, grapeseed, avocado, etc.

The oils will have the same effect on the body whether they are diluted or undiluted and will usually take effect within the first few minutes of application.  Essential oils are lipophilic, meaning they can penetrate the outer membrane of the body’s fat cells and move directly into the lymphatic and circulatory systems. From the skin’s surface, these systems transport the essential oils and their therapeutic chemical constituents throughout the body and toward areas where their presence will assist in creating balance.

In particular essential oils are often applied to the bottoms of the feet. The science of reflexology has identified specific points across the bottom of each foot which are neural pathways, dense with nerve endings, to the body’s organs and systems. Essential oils applied to these points travel easily along these paths.

3.  Internal Application
